Amanda's Journey to a Bachelor's Degree with Rivet School's Online Program for Parent Learners

"I remember I applied while pregnant," Amanda recalls. "In all honesty, I was concerned that I wouldn't actually do it once the baby was born."

However, Rivet School's Director of Admissions, Angelina, provided Amanda unwavering support and encouragement, reassuring Amanda that she could achieve her goals while prioritizing her family.

Over 50% of Rivet School’s students are parents, embarking on the path of education while juggling the responsibilities of work, family, and parenthood. As a working mother-to-be, Amanda Goad applied to Rivet School while pregnant with her first child, setting a goal to graduate before her son turned two years old. 

Drawn to the project-based, self-paced curriculum provided by Rivet School through partnership with Southern New Hampshire University, Amanda found the flexibility and structure she needed to pursue her educational aspirations..

"Growing up, I always wanted to attend a trade school program because I knew I’d be able to learn one thing and have a straight shot to the finish line. Rivet School was exactly that," Amanda reflects. 

Throughout her time at Rivet School, Amanda was empowered towards her goal by her College and Career Coach. "I’ve utilized my Career Coach, Tammy, all the time," Amanda shares. "She's been instrumental in helping me explore new opportunities and pursue my career goals."

Only a few days before her son’s second birthday, Amanda graduated with her Bachelor's of Arts in Communications through Southern New Hampshire University at Rivet School’s 2023 graduation.

"Getting my degree after so much time felt like a weight off my shoulders," Amanda admits. With her degree in hand and a newfound sense of confidence, Amanda is ready to embrace the next chapter of her life.
